Mirror cabinets, also called shaving cabinets or medicine cabinets in some countries, are types of bathroom fixture that are the perfect solution for modern bathrooms. You get both mirror function and storage space if you choose the perfect mirror cabinet, it allows you to optimize your bathroom space while keeping your bathroom tidy. As a result, it becomes widely used nowadays. There are several types of material to make mirror cabinets, MDF, PVC, solid wood, aluminium, stainless steel, etc. Different material has different characteristics and style, but MDF (medium density fibreboard) is usually the first choice in this case. As MDF is significantly cheaper than other materials, it can save your cost and meet your budget. Mirror cabinets play an important role in bathrooms, and there are many details need to be noticed before buying. Here, we listed 7 important details below on how to choose the perfect mirror cabinet.

Melamine Colour

First of all, it’s the colour of melamine finish, especially for the cabinet interior, there are mainly two colours available on market, light blue and snow white. Snow white looks brighter, cleaner and more beautiful.

Mirror Material

Second, it’s the most important part for mirror itself, the mirror material. There are also two types of mirrors available on market, coppered silver mirror and copper free silver mirror. Coppered mirrors are possible to be rusted, while copper free mirrors have much smaller possibilities to be rusted.

Mirror Edge

Third, it’s about the mirror edge. Again, there are two types of mirror edges available on market, pencil edge and bevelled edge. There is no better or worse between these two edges, it just depends on the edge of vanity cabinet. The mirror edge should be the same with the vanity edge, they need to match each other. Then they look more harmonious!

Door Quantity

Fourth, it’s about the quantity of mirror doors. Well, it depends on the size of mirror cabinet. Usually, 1 door for 450mm cabinet, 2 doors for 600mm cabinet, 2 or 3 doors for 750mm cabinet, 3 doors for 900mm cabinet, 3 or 4 doors for 1200mm cabinet, 4 doors for 1500mm cabinet.

Layer Quantity

Fifth, it’s the layer quantity inside the mirror cabinet. It seems not a big issue but maybe it’s very important during daily use. Usually, there are 3 layers inside the cabinet, let’s take a 720mm high cabinet for example. It’s divided by 3 layers on average, approximately 215mm net height for each layer, but what will you do when there is a bathroom product higher than 215mm? In this case, a mixed shelf with both 2 layers and 3 layers will help, short bathroom products can be stored in the 3-layer space, while tall bathroom products can be stored in the 2-layer space, that will be a perfect solution for storage.

Mounting Way

Sixth, mirror cabinets are all wall mounted. As a result, the mounting way is extremely important for the installers. The traditional way is with built-in metal gadgets and wall screws, it’s easy to manufacture but difficult to install. As you have to measure the size between metal gadgets in the cabinets very precisely, then drill holes on the wall very precisely too, when you install the cabinet onto the wall, you can’t see anything but moving the cabinet continuously until the metal gadgets match the screws on the wall. However, the easier way is with 45 degree panels, both on cabinet back and on the wall. In this case, you can install the cabinet easily, all you need to do is to hang the cabinet onto the wall panel.

Back Panel & Door Panel

Last but not least, it’s about the back panel and door panel. Some manufactures make them incomplete panels, while we make them complete panels. Incomplete back panels look ugly when you open the mirror doors, and incomplete door panels have a higher risk to break the mirrors during delivery. Without a doubt, complete panels are a lot better than incomplete panels.
